HOLLY Holm has offered Ronda Rousey a chance to avenge Sunday’s bantamweight championship loss, agreeing with UFC president Dana White that a “rematch makes sense.”

The new women’s champion is also $US100,000 richer after claiming two bonuses for ‘fight of the night’ and ‘performance of the night’.

Holm, 28, shocked the MMA world when she knocked Rousey out in the second round of UFC193 to give the superstar the first loss of her career.

Under no illusion that the hard work is over, Holm knows the win doesn’t guarantee she will become a household name.

Gracious in victory, the former champion boxer said she’s willing to give Rousey a rematch whenever she wants it.

“Rematch makes sense for sure,” Holm said at the press conference.
“I don’t look at this belt and think ‘I’ve made it’.
“I’ve been on the losing side before and wanted to avenge my loss.
“A rematch is kind of an unspoken common sense to me.”
More than 56,000 fans piled into Etihad Stadium to witness history with the UFC grossing over $9.53 (AUD) million on ticket sales alone which is a stadium gate record.
Like Holm, White agrees that a rematch makes a lot of sense.
Already those in the know are speculating UFC200, in Las Vegas July next year, is the most likely destination for the rematch to take place but White refused to speculate as to whether that will be the case.
White is also unsure on whether Holm will defend her title once before heading back into the Octagon with Rousey or whether she will sit on the shelf until a fight date can be announced.

“I have no idea right now,” White said.
The more calm of the two from the outset, Holm rocked Rousey with several heavy strikes to the head in the first round.
Rosuey’s corner reportedly told her she was doing great after the opening round despite being tagged on multiple occasions in the early stages of the fight.
To her determinate, Rousey came out firing in the second round, playing right into the hands of her 34-year-old opponent.
A Holm head kick floored Rousey just 59 seconds into the second round, leaving official Herb Dean with no choice but to call the fight.

“Those are the moments we live for,” Holm said.
“I couldn’t tell you how many times I cried in the gym (while training).
“I gave myself a chance. It’s hard to put yourself out there sometimes.
“As soon as (the title fight) came I said ‘that’s great’, let’s do it.”
When White first set this fight he came under fire from the critics for handing a ninth ranked contender an opportunity.
There was a feeling among MMA experts that Holm wasn’t ready but White’s decision has been justified and he said he stands by his decision to organise this fight.
“Tonight was one of those moments that makes it so crazy and so fun,” he said.
“I said this was a good fight. Holly was the right fight.”
