Seth Rollins Out 6-9 Months After Tearing ACL, To Vacate WWE Title

STAMFORD, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) — A big blow for Seth Rollins and the WWE.

Rollins, who captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this year’s WrestleMania, tore his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus during a WWE Live Event match in Dublin, Ireland.

He suffered the injury while attempting to sunset flip powerbomb Kane through a table.

Rollins is expected to miss six to nine months. If that timeframe is accurate, he will miss next year’s WrestleMania at Cowboys Stadium.

Rollins was supposed to face Roman Reigns at Survivor Series on Nov. 22. Instead, a tournament will be held at the pay-per-view for the title.

“This is the worst timing for Rollins of course, as well as Reigns and the worst time possible for this for the company,” Dave Metzler of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter tweeted.

Several top stars are out right now, including Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton, John Cena and Brock Lesnar.

Bryan has been out with a concussion for several months, while Orton recently suffered a separated shoulder. Cena and Lesnar both have scheduled time off.

ESPN’s Jonathan Coachman first reported the injury.
